Born 1992
By "Oldenburg" - out of "Vulgans Eyes".

Charlton Javelin stands at 17.1 hh and is a scopey elegant horse with powerful straight movement. He has a superb temperament, is very rideable and has a big athletic jump.  Javelin was successfully showjumped to Grand Prix level by Catherine Cameron finishing third in the HOY Grand Prix and won the North Island 1* Grand Prix in 2004.  He is stamping his young stock with looks, temperament, athleticism and trainability.  All are showing big loose movement and good jumping technique.  Javelin is leaving horses that are showing a lot of talent for eventing, with Charlton Quiver finishing 2nd in the championship 1* CCI at Taupo and competed successfully at 2* level; Clifton Javelin placed in the 1* CCI at Taupo, after competing at 1* Grand Prix showjumping; Axle Jack competed at intermediate level; and Dunstan Lavender, campaigned by Katie McVean in England, winning the Hickstead and subsequently evented in Holland.
Javelin's sire, Oldenburg (previously named Imperial), was by Inschallah and was a German performance tested stallion that stood at stud in Holland before being imported to NZ.  Many of his offspring competed at top international events including Zucarios and Bantu who competed at WEG in 3-Day eventing.  For further information on Oldenburg, see below.
Javelin's dam, Vulgans Eyes, was by the Irish steeplechase stallion, Vulgans Air, who is by Vulgan and who sired many steeplechase winners.  Vulgan Air's dam, Flying Wind, was the only horse to beat the legendary Arkle over fences.

CHARLTON JAVELIN'S STUD FEE:   NZ$1,000.00 plus GST.

By "Inschallah"  - out of "Gamene III"

Oldenburg was the pick of 27 registered sons of 'sire of sires', the legendary Inschallah, to stand next to his father at George Vorweck's famous stud in Germany.
Inschallah, who was Anglo-Arabian, yet finished his German performance test as number one, was imported from France, and descended from the famous sires, Israel and Nithard.
Originally named Imperial, Oldenburg was a registered sire in six different breeding regions, including Hanover and Trakehner.  His progeny were successful in both international dressage and show jumping events.  His dam's line shows three successive A-grade showjumpers, of whom his mother, Gamene III, is by the Hanoverian stallion, Weinstern, out of an Adonis mare.
Oldenburg passed his German performance test in Adelheidsdorf as a three-year-old in 1976, spent the next three years at stud with his father, then in 1979 was bought by one of Holland's foremost studs.  Entering the Royal Dutch Warmblood Studbook (KWPN) meant going through an even more vigorous selection process than he had already faced in Germany, but he wound up top of the Dutch 100-day school, with a perfect 10 score for free jumping.
A short but illustrious showjumping career followed with world-ranked rider, Wout Jan van der Schans, with Oldenburg ranked A-grade.  He went on to serve close to 1000 mares, stamping them with type, movement, class and presence, and leaving a number of registered sons as breeding stallions.
In 1989, Oldenburg was 'retired' to New Zealand, an acquisition made possible through Holland Horse Stud's Mike Heybrook, who also stood the KWPN sire, Urban.  One of his most successful offspring bred in New Zealand was "Internet"  who was placed at both Burghley and Badminton.
